Southwest Regional Coordinator

Imam Marvin Muhammad has been a Muslim since 1973.  He was first a member of the Nation of Islam and in 1975 along with members of this community accepted Islam proper under the leadership of Imam W.D. Mohammed.

During this time he has conducted a number of workshops and seminars.  Topics include crime prevention, community development, Islam in general, Critical Thinking and a host of other topics. He also has taught a class entitled “Islam, Beliefs and Teachings” through the Leisure Learning Institute of Houston, Texas.

He is the Southwest Regional coordinator for the American Coalition for Good Government and he has acted as the liaison for the Mayor of the City of Houston to the Houston Islamic Community under Mayor Lee P. Brown.

Professionally, he was a manager for a Texas State Agency for over 20 years; he has held positions such as Program Manager, Business Services Director and Regional Administrative Services Director. He retired in October 2008.

He has authored two (2) books: “Hispano Islam” and “Daily Inspirations from the Holy Qur’an”. He has been married for 38 years (Rosa Lee, wife); he has four (4) children, eight (8) grandchildren and one (1) great grandson. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Management.
